The concept behind this sculpture titled “When life gives you lemons” 🍋 is to put things into perspective.. let me explain.
The grumpy and powerful gorilla symbolizes the human caught up in their daily lives, worrying about all sorts off problems and thereby missing the most beautiful and precious moments right in front of them.
Imagine a little girl unexpectedly putting these cute mini mouse ears on the head of a grumpy man walking past her and everyone bursts out laughing.. putting everything the man was worrying about into perspective and let him enjoy the moment a bit more .
From miniature scale model till full size model..
this model is a very high quality 3d print.. we use this as a basis to make the silicone mold and then we can work to the wax model and then finally the bronze casting.. so what you see here is just the first step in the sculpture creation process
This picture shows the first time we exhibited my mating turtles sculpture called “Baby we made it”
I don’t know if you can see the difference but this version had 24karat gold leaf instead of polished bronze.
We created a large room full of jungle plants inside a venetian palace just to show this sculpture in an interesting context.. like a natural habitat but then in the wrong place
For my last exhibition in Guangzhou, China we created a large “white jungle” room for visitors to walk through.
We sourced hundreds of silk plants en painted them white by hand to get this effect.. to create the feeling of infinity we covered all the walls with acrylic mirrors
I am pretty excited to announce that I’m working on a new sculpture based on the character of Pinocchio.. , a marionette that must earn the right to become a real boy by proving to be truthful, brave and selfless.
(The attached image is not the new sculpture.. I will show you soon!)
