Arcadis is a global brand active in over 70 countries from over 300 offices. In 2014, in response to changing market conditions, we moved from an operating model based on national brands to create one single global entity, facilitating client access to a 27,000 people strong pool of knowledge and resource.
In 2015 we created our single global brand, drawing on the rich heritage of brands like ArcadisLogos, EC Harris, Hyder Consulting and Langdon and Seah and created our new visual identity signalling our transformation.
The name Arcadis was first used in 1997 following the merger of Heidemij and Geraghty & Miller in 1993. Our company, through the Hyder brand, can trace its roots back to 1875 and Arcadis to 1888. The name Arcadis is derived from Arcadia, which, according to Greek mythology, is the finest place on earth to live. It represents our aim to work systematically with clients to create a better environment where people can live, work and thrive.
Our symbol – the fire salamander
Our visual identity includes a representation of a fire salamander. Originating in Central Europe, the fire salamander is equally at home on land and in water, the salamander requires clean water to survive and represents lasting quality and ecological balance. In modern terms the balance we seek is the creation of natural, social and economic value through the planning, creation, operation and redefining of natural and built assets.
