By now you have probably seen some of my IG stories during the creation process of this sculpture.. I named it “Reflections of an Angel”
This is the 4th sculpture in my ongoing series based on the Pinocchio character.
Most people think the Pinocchio character is created by Walt Disney, but Disney was actually inspired by a 1883 Italian children's novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.
Pinocchio, a marionette puppet , must earn the right to become a real boy by proving to be truthful, brave and selfless.
For my sculpture “Reflections of an Angel” I wanted to expand on this traditional story by adding wings to the character and posing a question to the viewer..
the question is “ if one makes a mistake or isn’t truthful, does one lose it angels wings, or the possibility to become a real boy? “
As people we want to be truthful, brave and selfless… but in the process of maturing we tend to experiment and stumble, to get back up and reset.
There are obvious boundaries in society .. but there are also areas where there is more margin to make mistakes and come back a better person.. do you still have your wings?
